Sylvia Sevier at Haselden Construction

"I joined CFMA in July of 2011 with the hope of enhancing my knowledge of the construction industry and getting to network with other industry professionals. In the almost 10 years that I have been a member, I have gotten that and so much more. After I joined, I quickly became aware of the many opportunities that there are to get involved. My first was to help manage the check-in process for our monthly chapter meetings. This was great because it quickly gave me the opportunity to get to know a lot of our members. After that, I became involved with the membership committee which was my opportunity to try to make new members feel as welcomed as I had when I joined. Somewhere along the way, I was invited to join the board and have helped in several different areas since then. Currently, I act as chapter secretary and chair the scholarship committee. My feeling is that the more you can get involved in CFMA, the more you will get out of it. It has given me a great opportunity to not only keep up with trends in the industry but to get to know many wonderful individuals and develop my leadership skills." --Sylvia Sevier

Bill Thomas at White Construction Group

"I was first recruited to join CFMA shortly after I left public accounting and started working for a specialty trade contractor. After being surrounded by other CPAs and accounting professionals every day, it was strange to suddenly be the only one. CFMA immediately helped fill that void as I now had access to years of experience between the general and associate members. I never missed a meeting and was soon asked to join the Board. It is so easy for me to dedicate time to this organization, as I always get back way more than I put in, whether it is the relevant education, the ability to network with people who understand the industry, or the many friendships I have made. For any financial professional in the construction industry, whether a general or associate member, if there is one association to be involved in, CFMA is the one." --Bill Thomas

Ken MacGregor at Gilmore Construction Corporation

"My experience with the CFMA/CCIFP has enhanced both my professional career and self-confidence as a financial professional specialized in the construction industry.  Previous to being introduced to the CFMA organization, I had 25 years of senior financial positions within the construction industry without professional designations. The CFMA has provided a network of resources that are unparalleled through any other construction organization. As a volunteer CFMA board member for the past 8 years, it has been a rewarding experience assisting to enhance the organization’s benefits and member experiences.  However, the game-changer has been the relationships developed amongst industry peers as we work to guide our respective construction organizations, avoiding road bumps and providing profitable pathways." --Ken MacGregor
