"I joined CFMA in July of 2011 with the hope of enhancing my knowledge of the construction industry and getting to network with other industry professionals. In the almost 10 years that I have been a member, I have gotten that and so much more. After I joined, I quickly became aware of the many opportunities that there are to get involved. My first was to help manage the check-in process for our monthly chapter meetings. This was great because it quickly gave me the opportunity to get to know a lot of our members. After that, I became involved with the membership committee which was my opportunity to try to make new members feel as welcomed as I had when I joined. Somewhere along the way, I was invited to join the board and have helped in several different areas since then. Currently, I act as chapter secretary and chair the scholarship committee. My feeling is that the more you can get involved in CFMA, the more you will get out of it. It has given me a great opportunity to not only keep up with trends in the industry but to get to know many wonderful individuals and develop my leadership skills." --Sylvia Sevier
